Why My Village Has a DAO, a Tractor, Robots, And a Dance Party

A Vision for My Solarpunk Village

A few weeks ago, I got up in front of ~60 people and gave an Ignite Talk—a presentation format which auto-advances 20 images every 15 seconds. Similar to a PechaKucha, this storytelling format uses time constraints and imagery to create intense focus and pack a punch.

Here’s what I shared…

For many years, I’ve tried time and again to solve big societal problems—in the hopes of building a better world for my children and my family. I’ve discovered a lot through this journey and today, I want to share my vision for a Solarpunk Village—an open-source blueprint for multigenerational, interconnected communities living in harmony around the world.

We’ve all experienced the magic of joy and connection—the power it has to spark imagination and creation. Music jams, dance parties, food festivals, art exhibitions, game days, sporting events, and movie nights.

What if we could have this all the time? What if this was an answer to all of the world’s biggest problems?

Our society is experiencing an unprecedented rise in disconnection, loneliness, obesity, disease, mental illness, and infertility.

Mother earth is being desecrated, our programming is pumped with fear, our systems of governance don’t serve the people, economic scarcity pervades, war persists.

But that doesn’t have to be our world. We have the power to regenerate the earth and unite humanity as one species. It may seem paradoxical, but we start this process by healing ourselves, our families, and our communities. And let that reverberate outwards and onwards.

One remedy I offer is the Solarpunk Village. A harmonious blend of nature, technology, community, and spirituality. Where robots help grow our food, decentralized blockchain systems govern the family commons, and weekly routines nourish the body and soul.

The Solarpunk Village is a place for joy, connection, love, and abundance. Where children, elders, and everything in between— are held by trust, nourished by play, and surrounded by the wealth of the land.

It’s a home for beloved family. For extended family. For a multi-generational community; raising our children together in a cooperative village.

This is my fam—we Filipinos roll deep. I was raised in a big sprawling community, and I long for us to be together again.

Here, technology is our trusted ally and nature is our closest friend. We grow our own food, in regenerative partnership with mother earth, assisted by our robot friends. Engineered on open source, privacy focused, decentralized software.

Energy is clean and free. Yes we have solar, wind, hydro, and geothermal—but this will be a place where we research, develop, and deploy radically new forms of energy creation such as fusion and zero-point energy.

At the heart of the village, we gather at the Community Center—jamming at the communal kitchen, dining hall, library, pillow room movie theater, music stage, and ceremony space.

The Solarpunk Village is a bastion for education—where learning is lifelong: music, art, math, science, engineering, construction, craftsmanship, consciousness, healing, and co-creation.

Our lifestyle is in rhythm with our health—supported by a wide variety of athletic facilities, movement classes, organized activities, playful competitions, health coaches & guides.

We balance busy-ness with stillness—creating space for meditation, connecting with plant medicines, discovering and understanding consciousness. Embracing freedom of discovery and expression over any fixed dogmatic rules.

We build in harmony with nature with the permission of blessed lands, leveraging the wisdom of indigenous practices, biophilic design, 3D printing, sacred geometry, and cutting edge engineering.

Unleash your inner child and come play on our jungle gyms, trampoline parks, rope courses, zip lines, tree houses, and swimming pools.

Our community aren’t just members, they’re owners—participating in a tokenized economy that rewards our intrinsic human value: love, compassion, creativity. Modeled after the principles of timebanking.

Ownership also means empowerment. The village is governed democratically and decentralized, where leaders are elected and reputations are earned through trust, leveraging transparent, blockchain-based collaboration tools.

The Solarpunk Village is a place for healing—living life at a pace in rhythm with the nervous system, free of toxins, attuned to the earth, connected to community, lifted by spirit.

I see a world filled with Solarpunk Villages. Beautiful points of light, connected by leylines and decentralized protocols.

I believe this is possible, and I’m looking for people who want to co-create this vision with me. I know I’m not alone. We’re not meant to do this on our own. Together, we can make this happen.
