This week I managed to slice the tip of my finger off—minor mandoline accident in the kitchen—so typing is a little tricky. Therefore, here is a poem.
Oh my dear finger, how I miss thee, I was once complete, how can this be? A deceptive blade, a shine I could see, Alas, the only one left to blame is me.

Why do I cling to the ghosts of past sorrow? Clawing at phantom limbs of regret Flinching at echoes of tales untold, Longing for fragments of yesterday. Why can't I release these heavy chains? Let the dreams complete their slumber, Break the trance of fleeting hopes, Turn away from Siren’s call. Can I embrace the miracles before me? Behold the purity of children’s laughter, Dive in an ocean of love and euphoria, Perceive the perfection of the present moment. Origins buried in darkness deep, This insatiable hunger stirs, To change, grow, evolve, transform, A caterpillar thrashing in its cocoon. I know the truth, though I’ve refused to live it. Desire is suffering. Everything is now. I am enough. I’ve resisted, denied, and fought myself. I’ve built the mountain that I now climb. I stare down to the base, miles away, I gaze at the summit, mere steps ahead. I surrender To the wind, Lift me up, Take me home.
